Introduction to jQuery

While I’m far from an expert on the subject, I’ve had the opportunity to introduce jQuery to some of my fellow developers here in India. I thought I'd share the presentations in the hopes that someone else might find them useful as well.

The first, “Introduction to jQuery,” goes over some of the basics, discussing the motivation for using a JavaScript library like jQuery, the jQuery function (or $), CSS selectors, chainability, and event binding.

The second, “Introduction to jQuery Plugins,” follows very closely a talk I saw by Mike Alsup at the 2008 jQuery Conference in Boston. He did a marvelous job of introducing some basic guidelines for jQuery plugin development, and honestly, if he had posted his slides, I probably would have used them instead of creating my own. His talk was undoubtedly based on an excellent article he wrote for LearningjQuery.com.

I still plan to add speaker’s notes to the Keynote files, so updates should (eventually) be forthcoming. Please let me know if there are any suggestions I might incorporate.
