After about a month of searching, I finally found a house in Bettendorf! After viewing it with my realtor, and again a second time with Mom and Dad (My informal house inspectors… :-)), I made an offer Wednesday, which was accepted that evening.

I’ve been working with a couple realtors, one in Illinois and one in Iowa, and have looked at a number of FSBO houses as well. We’ve looked at most every home in my price range (And a few outside my range, just for kicks…) in the Bettendorf / Moline area. There have been a few promising choices, but for one reason or another I decided not to pull the trigger.

This house is quite nice on the inside, reasonably priced, and pretty much ready to move in. I think I was one of the first to see it after it came on the market, and moved pretty quickly, putting in my offer the next day. Despite the consistent media reminders, the Quad Cities housing market isn’t in as bad of shape as the rest of the country, and houses in this specific price range seem be to selling quickly.

The deal is pending an inspection and financing, but assuming things go smoothly, I should close on July 31, and hopefully can move in shortly after that!
